Paddlers under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian's signed
permission
on the approved unaltered release form. This must be turned in to
Swann Adventures before the start of the class.

Directions to Charlotte, North Carolina, class location (Mountain Island Lake):
Historic Latta Plantation is 12 miles northwest of Charlotte, NC.
Traveling north on I-77:
Take Exit 16B, Sunset Road. Turn left, going west to Beatties Ford Rd. Turn right on Beatties Ford Rd. and proceed
north for 4.8 miles until you reach Sample Rd. (directly across from Hopewell Presbyterian Church). Turn left on
Sample Rd. Continue on this road to the Park. Stay on that road until you pass the Raptor Center. At the power lines
turn left to the parking area.
Traveling south on I-77:
Take Exit 23, Huntersville. Turn right off the exit to Gilead Rd. Take the third left, McCoy Rd. At the stop sign, turn right
on Beatties Ford Rd. Turn left onto Sample Rd. Stay on Sample Rd into the Park. Stay on that road until you pass the
Raptor Center. At the power lines turn left to the parking area.

Directions to Raleigh, North Carolina, class location (Lake Jordan):
Lake Jordan:
Directions to the Farrington Boat ramp on Lake Jordan, Raleigh.
From the intersection of I-40 and Highway 54:
Heading south, take the first left on to Farrington Rd. Turn left onto Farrington Mill Rd. (there will be a Governor’s Club
Sign at the turn). This becomes Old Farrington. Turn left on to MT Caramel Church Rd. (there will be another Governor’
s Club sign there--but it will point to the right !! go LEFT!! Pass Phillips 66. Boat ramp is a wildlife ramp on the right
side. Look for all the kayaks in the first ramp area on the left.
From Highway 64:
Turn onto Farrington Rd. and head North. Cross two large bridges. Turn left into the wildlife boat ramp. Look for all the
kayaks in the first ramp area on the left.

Directions to Wilmington, North Carolina, class location:
From Highway 40 heading East:
Turns into College Rd. Continue through town. It turns into Carolina Beach Rd. / 421 South. Continue towards Carolina
Beach. Go over a large bridge and start looking for the first road to the right after the shopping center. (There is new
construction here so be sure that you are turning into a road.) Then turn again immediately so that you are on a road
parallel to Carolina Beach Rd. You will be heading in the opposite direction that you were traveling on Carolina
Beach Rd. Take the first road to the right. This will bring you under the bridge that you just traveled over. There is a
boat ramp up ahead and to the left. This is where you will meet for the class.

Directions to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, class location (Belews Creek
Lake)
:
Directions from Great Outdoor Provision Co. at Thruway Center:
Right onto Knollwood. Turn right onto Business 40 East. Travel approx. 6 miles to Hwy 158 exit on right. Once on Hwy
158 travel approx. 6 miles to Belews Creek Rd. on left (there is a Quality Mart Gas Station on the right just before
Belews Creek Rd.). Travel approx. 6mi on Belews Dreek Rd. (very curvy). Turn left onto Hwy 65 west and travel approx.
1 mile. Turn right onto Pine Hall Rd. There will be a sign for "The Hillbilly Hideaway Restaurant" just as you turn onto
Pine Hall Rd. After going approx. 4 miles on Pine Hall Rd., you will see the "Duke Power Steam Station" on the right
(this is not the boat ramp). One mile past the Duke Power Plant look for a wooden sign "Pine Hall Boating Access" on
the right. Turn right and continue down to parking area
